Wait Times for Examination and Diagnosis

Sometimes, it becomes apparent during an appointment that additional tests are needed, such as x-rays, CT scans, or MRI scans. CortoClinics does not have the necessary equipment to perform these tests, so we have an arrangement with Bernhoven Hospital.

For x-rays or CT scans for the Mako system, you can always be seen at Bernhoven on the same day. The orthopedic surgeon then sees you again at CortoClinics immediately after the tests have been performed. MRI scans cannot be done immediately; Bernhoven has wait times for these, which are usually less than 1-2 weeks. You then make a separate consultation appointment with CortoClinics to discuss the results of the MRI scan.

You can also go to a diagnostic center of your choosing. They probably have their own wait times. In any event, after the test, you must make an appointment at CortoClinics to discuss the findings.

Waiting List Mediation

If you believe the wait time is too long, you can always contact us or your insurer to request waiting list mediation. Your insurer can provide assistance so that you can be seen sooner.

The maximum allowable wait time agreed to between healthcare providers and health insurers (the Treek standard) is 4 weeks for access to clinical and diagnostic services. For treatment, the maximum allowable wait time is 7 weeks.
